The grass isn’t greener - Diptych
The story behind these two paintings is about how we often envy other people’s lives, thinking that the grass is greener on the other side. An adult deer looks toward a younger deer, remembering the easiness & innocence of childhood . Meanwhile, the younger deer looks back at the adult, longing for the independence, freedom, and experiences that come with growing older.
Neither realizes that the other is looking back with the same longing.
Above them, a bird flies freely, reminding us to stop wishing we were somewhere else and begin appreciating the season of life we’re in.
Because the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Every season of life holds something worth cherishing.
